National Pet Month

National Pet Month – why not take your beloved pets on holiday with you this April?

For those of us that feel guilty in leaving your best friend behind when going on holidays, here’s a perfect excuse to take them with you. National Pet Month takes place this month (April) and you can bring your best friend along to The Falcondale, a beautiful country mansion set in rural West Wales, at no extra charge! They have recently been listed in the Daily Mail’s “6 of the best dog friendly hotels” 2016, so you can rest assured that both you and your pets will be well looked after!

National Pet Month promotes responsible pet ownership and encourages groups, businesses and individuals to stage their own event during the month. The Falcondale will not be charging the usual £10 per night for pets in the belief that they can have a holiday the same as their owners.

On arrival your pampered pooch will be presented with a cosy dog blanket, water bowl and tasty treats. Although your pet is not allowed in the restaurant, they can dine from their own menu alongside their owners within the conservatory and lay be the fire in the lounge before bed. It really is a dogs life!

Year of Adventure – Mountain biking – North Wales

This year is Wales’ year of adventure. Why not join in the fun and do something epic? We’ve compiled a list of daring activities you have to try each month!

Mountain biking in North Wales

To kick off the year of adventure in style, why not give mountain biking a go? North Wales has many mountain biking resorts but notably Coed Llandegla offers a host of trails for both beginners and intermediate level riders. After opening in 2005, it has become one of the most popular mountain bike resorts in Wales, receiving over 200,000 visitors a year. For just £32 you can hire a bike for a full day and ride the trails to your hearts content!

Also nearby is Llangollen Railway, a heritage railway beside the historic Dee Bridge. Starting in Llangollen, the steam train follows the Rive Dee and ends 10 miles later in the charming town of Corwen. Located within an Area of Outstanding National Beauty, the views from the carriages are simply breathtaking and explore much of the natural beauty that North Wales has to offer. Whilst enjoying the picturesque scenery, indulge in a choice of light menus, including afternoon tea with homemade scones and jam. All of the stations along the railway track are of a typical Victorian design, giving you a truly historical experience like no other.

Where to stay

This January experience a fun-filled day of biking then wind down at the nearby Manorhaus Ruthin hotel. This contemporary accommodation set in the Vale of Clwyd is a mere 20 minute drive from Coed Llandegla and features a combination of classic architecture with a stylish, modern twist. The hotel also boasts a private cinema and a library for guests – the perfect way to relax after a long day of biking!
